Earned Media
There are three types of media: Paid (ads), Owned (your website), and Earned. Earned Media is publicity you gained from promotional efforts other than paid advertising. If a customer raves about your bakery on their personal Facebook, or if the local news does a segment on your charity event, that is Earned Media. It is the most valuable type because you can’t buy it; you have to deserve it.
This section strategies to increase earned media. We discuss “Digital PR” tactics like sending press releases to local Niagara outlets and creating “Viral” moments that people naturally want to share. It is the digital equivalent of Word of Mouth on steroids.
